Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Investments and Banking (CAIIB)
The use of technology in almost every area in Finance has accelerated in recent years. As a result, new players have emerged –e.g., the so-called FINTECH- and new products and channels have been developed. This new ecosystem has created a novel way to understand the relationship with customers, employees, or other stakeholders.
Among all the recent technological advances, Artificial Intelligence is the one that will have the most significant impact on the Financial sector. Artificial Intelligence encompasses a broad and diverse group of technologies and models which have the common purpose of understanding and building artificial systems capable of performing tasks that, due to their complexity, could be previously executed just by humans. By its nature, Artificial Intelligence is a technology that can be used in virtually any task that requires high-level cognitive skills.
Influential organizations, such as the CFA Institute, recognize the extraordinary impact that Artificial Intelligence will have on the Financial Sector. In the same vein, the World Economic Forum identifies Artificial Intelligence as one of the Key Disruptive Trends in areas such as Investments, Credit Management or Insurance, among others.
Aware of this impact, the CFA Society Spain has launched the Certificate in Artificial Intelligence in Investments and Banking (CAIIB), which offers a 360-degree view of all relevant aspects of the application of Artificial Intelligence in the context of Investments, Banking, and Insurance. The Certification is structured in two levels, with annual editions.
The Certification is targeted towards Investment and Finance professionals and also those who are interested in understanding the impact that Artificial Intelligence will have on areas such as Financial Advising, Risk Management, Customers’ Relationships, and others. The Certification is also suitable for investors who wish to incorporate these technologies as an analysis tool, as well as for entrepreneurs in the technological and financial sectors who want to develop new products and services in this emerging area.
There are no requirements to obtain the Certification; however, candidates with formal training or basic professional experience in Finance, Engineering, or Science will understand more easily some topics of the Certification. In particular, basic concepts on Calculus, Algebra, Optimization, and Probability and Statistics are used. The Certification also reviews basic programming concepts (in Python) that will allow us to illustrate the techniques explained with the help of practical financial examples of application.
